鏡湖在蕪湖市可是個(gè)家喻戶曉的地方，外地人來(lái)蕪湖必看的一景。現(xiàn)在的鏡湖風(fēng)景優(yōu)美，是市民休閑的好去處。可你知道以前的鏡湖是什么樣子嗎？聽(tīng)我給你講講吧。
在上世紀(jì)90年代中后期，鏡湖的水體呈高富營(yíng)養(yǎng)化狀態(tài)，水質(zhì)嚴(yán)重惡化，水變成了黃色。惡化的原因主要有：蕪湖市某醫(yī)院通過(guò)地下水道將大量未經(jīng)處理的污物、污水直接排進(jìn)了鏡湖；部分素質(zhì)不高的市民往鏡湖里倒垃圾；最可氣的是鏡湖風(fēng)景區(qū)的某些工作人員竟然在鏡湖里洗拖把！慢慢地，鏡湖水變成了黃色，湖面上漂浮著許多垃圾，還散發(fā)著一股臭味。來(lái)到鏡湖邊的人們都捂著鼻子跑開(kāi)了，嘴里還不停地說(shuō)：“真臭！臭死了！”
一九九九年DDD二０００年，蕪湖市人民政府號(hào)召全市人民清理鏡湖。首先，工作人員用機(jī)器將湖水抽干，再由黨員帶頭和市民們一起挖掉淤泥，最后注入清澈的水。我外公是黨員，他有著親身體驗(yàn)，外公說(shuō)，那次勞動(dòng)很累，但改善了鏡湖的'水質(zhì)，大伙兒都感到很高興。

The first thing we can do is to use cloth bags in stead of plastic bags when we go shopping. It helps to protect the environment. The second thing we can do is to reuse the old textbooks as possible as we can. We should also never forget to turn off the lights when we leave the classrooms in order to save energy. What's more, it would be better if we walk or ride a bike to school. We should try our best reduce pollution and waste.
In fact,even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. I believe we can make the world a better place to live in.
