　　1保護海洋的英語作文

　　Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life.With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth.He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power.Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

　　However,man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results.Today,pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet.Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles.Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside.The pollution of water is equally harmful.The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.

　　Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before.As we know,massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide.Therefore,effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment.Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.

　　The world we live in is becoming more and more intolerable because of environmental destruction. For example, forest destruction results in decrease of planting land and unpleasant weather. In addition, man is faced with problems of water pollution and air pollution.

　　A lot of measures have been taken. Planting trees helps improve and beautify the environment. Besides, laws concerning environmental protection have been put into effect and achieved good results.

　　However, the problem of environmental protection remains far from being solved. On the one hand, the environment pollution and destruction are getting worse and worse in the modern world. On the other hand, the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. In a word, there is a long way to go before we enjoy a clean and comfortable world.

　　Last weekend,I wanted to swim in the river that I usually wen in the childhood.When I went there,I was shock.The river is no longer like before.It was full of rubbish.It seemed that the rubbish is from the villagers themselves.In order to put the rubbish nearer,they put all of them into the river.Not only the water is not clean any more,the river also smelt bad.I real touched.Why human and the environment couldn’t live harmonious?Long time ago,they could get along with each other.Why not now?People have to stop their behavior to harm the environment.Otherwise,it would cause destruction to both sides.

　　Man multiplied and civilised by changing the environment to suit himself especially by the development of agriculture and industrialization.Our earliest ancestors lived in a rich and competitive world closely tied to environment.They knew the sources of water and use of plants and animals for food and shelter purposes.But they exploited the environment to fulfill their requirements,thus they could not cause excessive damage to environment due to their low population,nomadic way of life and primitive technology.

　　Throughout time we have exploited nature and its creatures for our own benefit.We have developed a huge and thriving society; and in the process we deforest huge sections of land for living and livestock grazing.This decreases oxygen and increases carbon dioxide in the atmosphere; possiblyadding to global warming though the greenhouse effect.Modern transportation consume lots of non-renewable fossil fuels that put carbon monoxide,sulfur and nitrogen oxides and other harmful particulates into the atmosphere.This produces dangers like smog and cancer and contributes to global warming.

　　We only have one earth so,we must take precautions to preserve our environment,such as using recycle,environmental friendly bags instead of plastic bags,which will take years for it to disintegrade,save electricity and water to conserve energy,use public transport to go to work or have a car pool to reduce the production of harmful gases into the atmosphere.We all are the citizen of Earth,so we are responsible to take care of our environment.
