And the river has been seriously polluted,n be seen from the color of it. Along this "black" river, there are a few people selling fresh water which must have been taken from far away places.
At the first glance, it is very strange to us how can people sell water along the river, but this is the case, because the water in this river is undrinkable. This presents a serious social problem--environmental pollution. With the development of economy, our living standards have been greatly improved. But we can‘ t ignore the fact the air we take in and the water we drink today are not as fresh and clean as they used to be. Some kinds of pollution can even be deadly to people. It is high time that we took some measures to solve the problem.
I think we can first call people‘s attention to this problem so that they will be aware of the serious consequences of it. Then,we can pass certain laws to restrain the factories from sending out wastes. Finally, we can do more resarch work to find out ways to deal with the wastes.

Though the environment doesn’t have a mouth to deprecate what humans have done to her, she retaliates through action. In the early years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of the yellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terrible floods. As a result，the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forests was turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example was in several developed countries. Because many chemical factories discharged poisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonous gas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horrible scene!
What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature once suffered. If we don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we will have to face an increasingly awful situation.
Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we are relying. First governments should forbid destroying vegetation, rivers and lakes, oceans, as and the atmosphere as well. Second voices should be made to announce the public of the importance of protecting the environment.
